The purchase price for a CNC machining center in woodworking depends on many factors and the respective design. Relatively inexpensive entry-level CNC machines usually have smaller machining surfaces and tend to be equipped with 3-axis milling technology. High-end CNC machining centers offer 5-axis milling technologies, drill heads with grooving and routing units in X and Y, and automated tool changers. The more sophisticated and closer to practice the respective CNC model has been developed, the higher the automation technologies used to increase productivity and yield in woodworking.

Basically, there are no "machining limits" for a CNC machining center. Depending on the tool used, the standard operations are sawing, milling, drilling, roughing, finishing, grinding and many more. CNC machines can also be used to machine a wide variety of materials, wood, non-ferrous metals or plastics.
